Our Mob

This page shares a little about our mob, our Country, and the values that guide how we work.

Country

The Ngarabal people are the Traditional Custodians of the high country around Glen Innes, Inverell and Tenterfield, in northern New South Wales and parts of southern Queensland. The Ngarabal have lived here for thousands of years, and we’re still here, caring for Country in all its forms.

Ngarabal life has always been connected to land and water. We look after the rivers, the plants and animals, the stories, and the places that hold meaning.

Resilience

Our mob has been through a lot since colonisation but culture continues. We’re still speaking, still remembering, still practising what we’ve been taught.

Keeping culture alive takes work. Sometimes it’s quiet work done by those who still carry language, tell stories and show up.

That kind of quiet, steady strength is something we try to carry into our business. Looking after what matters. Planning ahead. Staying grounded. Always learning.

Connection

Country is more than just land. It’s people, lore, language, memory. It teaches us how to live, how to listen, how to take care of what matters.

Those lessons shape how we work at Crenellate. We bring the values of respect, responsibility, and care into the way we work, the relationships we build, and the way we make decisions. It’s not always perfect, but we try to walk the right way.

Family and Community

Crenellate was founded by a Ngarabal man. That connection isn’t for show. It’s just part of who we are. We carry the values we have learned and continue to learn from our Elders and community. They guide how we work, how we make decisions, and how we show up. And if this business can do a bit of good protect others, share culture, walk respectfully then we reckon we’re heading the right way.

Learning More

If you want to learn more about Ngarabal culture, language, stories and connection to Country, the best place to start is by listening. Spend time with the people, the places and the words that carry our knowledge.

We are proud to share who we are, but always with respect. Culture stays strong because people carry it. If learning about it helps others walk with more care or see things in a new way, then that is a good thing.
